I should begin by introducing myself. My name is Steve and I currently live in Saratoga California. About 2 years ago my lovely wife , who shall remain nameless (Sue) asked if I would plant her a garden. Having been involved in gardening when I was 10 or so in Scappoose, Ore. (yep, that is a real place) I immediately replied, yes. I consulted the latest Farmers Almanac, checked online resources and went to work. Sue’s father had always had a garden and had a nice little area all fenced off. Unfortunately, it was a mess and full of large tree rounds her son had obtained with the intent to sell. Last year I managed to move half of it and added manure and compost to the soil. I then planted Beans, Peas, Tomatoes of several varieties. I had some success however, not nearly what I remember from my childhood :(. The purpose of this blog is to track my failures and accomplishments, such as Thomas Jefferson did in his notebooks and perhaps learn from my many mistakes.
